Why isn't Copia Auto-Archiving my Siemens TIA Portal project in the desktop app?

The Copia desktop app starts the Auto-Archive process when a change to the .ap1x file is modified in the TIA Portal project. Follow these troubleshooting steps if your TIA Portal project isn't being automatically archived.

Try each of the following troubleshooting steps in order if your TIA Portal project isn't being automatically archived.

  1. Ensure that Auto-Archive is enabled.
  2. Click on the Copia desktop app to bring it into focus on Windows. The Copia desktop app isn't actively searching for changes to your repository files unless it is in focus and active on Windows.
  3. Make sure that you have saved your TIA Portal project in the IDE. The Copia desktop app can't see the changes until they are saved to the disk.
  4. Check that you are actually editing the TIA Portal project that exists in your repository. The Copia desktop app will only "look" for edits to TIA Portal projects that exist in the repository folder that is active in the Copia desktop app.
  5. Delete the <TIA_PROJECT_NAME>.json file that exists in in the hidden .git folder in your local repository and return to the Copia desktop app. This file is used to track if edits have been made. Under certain circumstances it can get into a state where it will never detect an edit to the project, even if you are modifying and saving the project. Deleting this file will reset the state and it will be automatically re-added by the desktop app.
