Why does Copia highlight things I did not change, when displaying a diff?

In some cases, a user may make a small change to a network or rung (or object) in a program, and when the difference is shown in Copia, there are additional items (or maybe the whole rung/network/object) that are highlighted as being changed.  There are a few possible reasons for this:

1) Sometimes when making a change to a single contact (for example), the 3rd party software on recompile may update UID's or tab order values which cause additional changes in the same location that are not readily apparent to the user, but are technically differences.  Copia does try and filter these out, but could cause this behavior.

2) More common is that this is due to the automated compare algorithm that Copia uses for each vendor integration.  These algorithms will only have a before and after snapshot, and based on the data provide will make an "educated guess" on the actions that a user could have taken to reach the end results.

As an example, if you delete a contact on a rung, you "may have" deleted the contact, or deleted the rung and recreated it without the contact.

Copia strives to continually improve the change detection algorithms, and though it should always accurately identify that a change has been made, it may not be able to determine the correct steps that were taken.

Based on the above, it is always recommended to review the results that are provided.
