Why can't Copia export certain TIA Portal blocks?

You may see the warning "Export of this block is not permitted" for various TIA Portal project items when trying to render with Copia

Copia uses the Siemens Openness API to export project items from a TIA Portal project into a text-readable format. The Openness API has limitations that prevent it from exporting certain types of project items, which means that Copia is unable to render their contents. You need to open the project in TIA Portal in order to view the contents of these un-exportable items.
