[DeviceLink FAQ](https://help.copia.io/knowledge/devicelink-faq?hsLang=en) # What are File Lists in DeviceLink? ## File Lists are used in DeviceLink to include/exclude specific files from a backup A File List is a list of specific files and file types that you want to include or exclude from a DeviceLink backup. You can think of a File List kind of like the *.gitignore* file in that it is often used to exclude certain files from being tracked.   Copia has pre-made File Lists for our natively-supported DeviceLink vendors. We also allow you to create your own custom File Lists.
