How to handle Email address changes

If my email address has changed, or our company email has changed, how do we update that in Copia?

This answer will address a simple email address change, and domain change for your company (i.e. if your company now has a new name, website, and email addresses).

If your company is using SSO via an IDP (Identity Provider, such as Active Directory) to manage Copia membership, then you should contact your Copia system Owners or company IT Department to handle this change.

In any case, we recommend contacting your Copia system Owners, as someone from the Owners team will be required to make these types of changes, or should at least be aware of the change.  They should also know if the system is configured for users management by a company Identity Provider.

Email address change (no SSO configured)

When your email address has changed, here are some options to update this in Copia:

  1. Option 1 (recommended): You can contact Copia technical support, and we can change your email address in the system directly.
    1. This is the simplest option, as there is no changes necessary to teams and permissions.
    2. NOTE:  Copia will email both the original and the new email, and confirm that you want to make the change.  You will need to respond and approve the change.
  2. Option 2: Someone at your company with "Owner" privilege can invite you, via your new email address, to the organization.  Once you have joined, they can Deprovision your old account via the Members tab.
    1. In this case, it is as if you are a new Member, and you will need to be re-added to the teams you were on, and given the same levels of permissions.

In both cases above, after your email is updated, it is recommended to open your Copia Desktop app, and log out and back in with your new account.  You will also want to go into the Options tab and update your Git credentials as shown below:
