Why is the Copia desktop app using so much memory?

The desktop app can occasionally use high memory resources due to an undiagnosed memory leak. Restarting Copia usually resolves the issue.

We've received a number of reports of very high memory usage by the Copia desktop app. This seems to happen very infrequently and with no pattern. This is likely due to a memory leak, but Copia has so far been unable to reproduce the issue for diagnosis. If you experience this issue, please try the following steps to resolve the issue. For most users, the issue is resolved after the first step.

  1. Force quit Copia from Task Manager and restart
  2. Ensure that you are using the most up to date
  3. Restart your computer
  4. Contact Copia support for troubleshooting
  5. Uninstall/reinstall Copia

If you experience this issue, please try to record the following information to give to Copia support. This will help us diagnose the root cause of the problem

  • Is the issue consistent and reproducible?
  • OS version
  • Repo name/URL
  • Repo location (is it stored locally, in a networked folder, or in a VM?)
  • Repo contents (what types of PLC projects are in the Git repo?)
  • Do you have Auto-Archive enabled?
  • Were you performing any actions such as branching and merging when this issue occurred?
