Can I store multiple PLC projects in one repository?

Yes, but you won't be able to segment user access to these files

There are situations where you may want to store multiple PLC projects in the same repository. For example, the repository may have been created for a specific project, and this project may involve developing logic for multiple different PLCs within an area.

If you do choose to store multiple PLC projects in the same repository, please be aware that you can't grant a user access to a single file within Copia - you must grant them access to the entire repository. If there are situations in the future where a user (i.e a contractor or technician) may need to access one PLC project but not the others, then that won't be possible if they are stored in the same repository.

Additional concerns are:

  • Storing multiple PLC projects in the same repository may clutter up the history and cause it to be harder to sort through.
  • If these are larger PLC projects, then the size of the repository could begin to cause some performance issues. For example, this could cause the process of cloning the repository to take much longer than usual.
